Toys’ Museum in Vilnius is nominated for the Children in Museums Award

2014 03 20

Toys’ Museum in Vilnius is a candidate for the Children in Museums Award, that was established by the European Museum Academy and Hands On! International in co-operation with the Bologna Children’s Book Fair for the recognition of excellence in the specific sector of international children’s museums and in the specialist provision for children within the museum sector internationally.

The founder of the Toys’ Museum Povilas Blaževičius will attend the Round Table: High Tech – High Touch on Wednesday 26 March, at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair.

This will look at how books and children’s museums are facing the need for a balance between technology and human interaction, which is a key issue for both environments. Direct access to the book market and the widening choice between books, e-books and interactive products are increasing the role of the editor in composing a coherent offer which expresses its values and positioning. The same is happening to children’s museums: the balance between physical play and technological tools reflects a museum’s approach to creativity and learning.

The Round Table aims to be a starting point for discussion, and CMA candidates will be challenged to present their position on the topic.
